An AI rehabilitation platform for patients with chronic conditions needed ethical oversight built into the development lifecycle rather than added at the end.

Methods

Iterative ELSI assessment running across the project lifecycle, including ethics workshops with clinical, technical and legal partners, ongoing review of project activities and documents, and validation sessions with end-users.

Outputs

A live risk register and a set of structured monitoring metrics covering bias, fairness, informed consent, explainability and equitable access, used by the consortium to track ethical performance over time.
